Double Dragon totally drops on Xbox Live Arcade today and I'm rather excited, especially since their is no better way to blast through hump day than beating up gang members.  To match my enthusiasm and to fill the void for those of you who don't have XLA, I bring to you another fantastic pop artist from Sweden named the Salty Pirates.  The quintet formed in high school and for the last few years they have been making a lot of great music and putting it out for all to download.  That's right, download.  Apparently the band has made it their goal to campaign against what they have deemed the commercialism that is affecting the music industry today.  How can you not love a bunch of musicians with a mindset like that?  Enjoy.

:The Salty Pirates - Common Sense:  Unless your dead, the slow building 45-second intro is good enough to win you over before you even hear one lyric; the catchy guitar work is especially nice.  Fortunately, it only gets better once the vocals slide in.  I love how they are deeply rooted with a distinct mid-90s indie rock feel, and all of the harmony provided by the lovely lady in the band is just as good.  This one is highly recommended.

:The Salty Pirates - The Guy You Talk With:  "I'm the guy you talk with about the guys you sleep with."  I will assume that every guy that reads this blog has can probably relate to this song, and that alone merits a download.  For those of you that can't relate, you still get an upbeat and slightly fuzzed up Pavement-esque pop number that offers a plentiful supply of nifty one-liners.  This is the song that you will inevitably find stuck in your head for the rest of the week.
