I saw Spiderman 3 last night!  I can't say it was even remotely as good as the first two, but I saw it in the presence of some good friends so it end up being a nice time despite how ticky tacky the plot felt.  Now, let's move on to today's ramble about the Fields.  The quintet just wrapped up an appearance at Coachella, and their new album, Everything Last Winter, is set to drop on May 8, which is next Tuesday, courtesy of Black Lab/Atlantic.  I vaguely remember posting a song from the UK band's EP last year, but to be honest they kind of slipped my mind until an email arrived in my inbox yesterday alerting me of the US release of their debut.  I think it's pretty good stuff so jump below to check out a track and a nifty video.  Enjoy.

:Fields - If You Fail, We All Fail:  This shoe-gaze pop song is wonderful.  The band does a stellar job in keeping the sound on the border between crisp and distorted, which, is rather nice since it allows the catchy guitar hooks to stand out instead of being drowned in noise.  Though, I believe what I love most about this is Nick Peill.  The guy sounds like an inspired version of early Death Can For Cutie-era Ben Gibbard.  You need to hear this.

Below is the video for a song from the Fields' debut EP, 7 From The Village, titled Brittlesticks.  It has a very neat look since it was shot with a hand cranked camera, so be sure to take a moment to check it out.
