Good news! Sarah has
accepted a GN position at a hospital in Austin, so once she graduates in May
we will be moving out there to live happily ever after. Can I get a
Hell Yeah!? Anyhow, since I started this blog there has been one
label in particular that has consistently given me something to get excited
about, and that label is Ace Fu. The latest artist that they have me
all worked up about is Illinois, who some of you may remember me mentioning
in the podcast awhile back. The indie pop quintet just released a
brand new EP titled What The Hell Do I Know? and they are going to be
hitting the road with The Kooks after SXSW. It's good times for the
band, myself and for any of you who like high quality music. Enjoy.
:Illinois - Screendoor:
"Hello all you lovely ladies." This is one of those
songs that you will inevitably struggle with in trying to
remove from your head. Chris Archibald's voice
inspires you to sing-a-long with him and the music is quite
joyful as it bounces along mixing different parts of indie
pop and electro-pop. It's good fun so check it out and
let it brighten up your day.
:Illinois - Alone Again:
I am all about how different this song is when compared to Screendoor.
Now that is not to say it is any less catchy because I think that it's more
than sing-a-long worthy, but I really appreciate how the band slows things
down. The sound feels darker and it definitely shows that they are
capable of putting together something other than upbeat indie pop tracks.
