New Stars!  Well, it isn't necessarily new but it is re-interpreted and re-imagined in a way that breathes life into 2005's stellar Set Yourself On Fire.  As I mentioned in my podcast this past weekend the band will be releasing a new, friend altered rendition of that album on May 22 titled Do You Trust Your Friends?   I think the album title is kind of funny since the list of "friends" who contributed includes Apostle Of Hustle, Metric, The Most Serene Republic, Junior Boys, Final Fantasy and a few others who I would have no trust issues with if they wanted to remake something of mine  I have only heard the two songs below but I think the album is going to easily satisfy my hunger for Stars long enough for the new full length to drop later this fall.  Enjoy.

:Stars - Ageless Beauty (The Most Serene Republic Mix):  I really like the Most Serene Republic so when I saw that they were on the disc I almost jumped out of my shoes.  Fortunately, they do not disappoint in re-imagining one of my favorite tracks on SYOF.  Amy Milan's vocals are left alone but the upbeat electro-pop is all gone in favor of a piano driven arrangement that brightens the song up into one of the most charming things I have heard all year.  Is music this old suppose to feel this fresh?

:Stars - The First Five Times (Russian Futurists Mix):  Much like what the Most Serene Republic did this song is more re-imagined than it is remix.  I really like how the Russian Futurists don't really mess around with the vocals too much and instead focus on bringing a completely different feel to the song by making the music darker and heavier.  I highly recommend checking this out just to hear how it sounds in a different context.
