Did you guys see the Idolator piece on the RIAA having a hand in other people's sites being taken down?  I really hate seeing what happened to me happening to others, maybe we all should seriously consider joining the folks over at Gizmodo.  Considering the circumstances I suppose I should have a bunch of loud anti-everything songs to share with all of you today, but I have decided to go in a completely different direction with the peaceful Swati from New York.   The Lower East Side, twelve string acoustic guitar playing lady has a new album titled Small Gods coming out on April 17 via Bluhammock, and from the way the two songs below sound I think it will end up being quite beautiful.  Who knew that former Lilith Fair artists could ever be considered cool!?

:Swati - 2AM:  I really like the music in this.  It's almost as if your brain tells you to only expect some acoustic strumming but instead Swati is talented enough to arrange everything in a way that gives it a lush sound.  As for the vocals and songwriting I think they very much come across as a new electronic-less version of Azure Ray.  This is good stuff, use it wind down this weekend.

:Swati - Blackjack:  "Just hold my hand/When the money runs out/The dealer's got blackjack."  I think those of you who are looking for something with a little more attitude in it then this will be for you.  The music certainly moves at a faster pace and the tiny moment towards the end of the song when Swati sings "faster, faster, faster" really points out how good she is at keep things interesting.  I doubt you are going to find a more engaging acoustic driven pop song right now, maybe even the rest of 2007.
