I don't know how to explain it but I pretty much just realized yesterday that my birthday is this Thursday, so feel free to send me any of the loose change that is currently being stored in your couch.  Anyway, allow me to celebrate the day late beginning of my birthday week by giving to you an entirely free album of glorious indie pop!  Actually, I just have the highlights but you can find the Spectacular Fantastic's latest effort, Outer Space Is Nothing But A Lie, here.  I'm willing to bet that it's probably the best gift that you (and me??) will receive all week so be sure to show it some love.  Also, try to take a moment to check out all of the other freebies that the Cincinnati quartet have up for the taking; they're well worth the bandwidth.  Enjoy.

:The Spectacular Fantastic - This Old Heart:  "You said that this would never end/You told me that you had a plan."   Mike Detmer and Co. don't wait very long to get to the point in this indie pop gem, and I love the absence of any sort of fluff.  I mean, who doesn't like music that's catchy, smart and simple?  The guys are are going to find it rather difficult to continue their goal as the best band you've never heard of if they keep rolling out indie pop this good.

:The Spectacular Fantastic - Summer Toes:  Sure, this probably won't strike you as being too different from the song above (the runtime is even the same), but it's still catchy-as-hell and deserving of your time.  Now with that being said, Detmer does such a great job of using his voice to emphasize his crafty songwriting skills that I could probably just listen to him over a spoon clanking repeatedly on a wall, so maybe the sound doesn't need to be mind-blowingly different on each track.
