For those of you that have been coming here frequently over the last few months, you probably have noticed all of the grindhouse related side notes that have detailed my numerous trips through the style of film.  Well, that tiny feature will soon come to a close once I finish watching the last handful of flicks that are in my Netflix queue.  I have no doubt that I will miss the constant barrage of bat-shit crazy plots, but what I will miss the most is that gloriously funky soul music of the 70s, which brings me to the Budos Band.  The Staten Island product play a modern style of the funk that I love so much and I believe they are one of the first bands in a line of many that I will inevitably seek out to satisfy my funk fix.  Watch out for their new album, Budos Band II, soon.  Enjoy.

:The Budos Band - Chicago Falcon:  The way this just jumps out at you from the beginning and then proceeds to have various spurts of groove-inducing joy is fantastic.  It's almost as if the band consciously made the decision to not risk the chance of accidentally blowing your mind, so they provided moments that remind you to breath.  Seriously though, I'm just thrilled to know I finally have the perfect song to play in the background if I ever have a reason to get ready to attempt to be badass.

The video below is for a track titled Volcano Song, which is from the band's self titled debut.  I don't know if the 70s style cartoon footage was made for the piece or taken from something else, but it's pretty adventurous and it fits well with the funky pace of the song.
