Happy Independence Day!  I almost took the day off but I decided to share an EP with you instead.  It doesn't feature as much commentary as normal, but it does have just as much great music.  Enjoy.

:Ladyslipper - Chicago:  This is one interesting piece of indie rock that features an equal amount of spirited vocals and loud bursts of instrumental joy.  I hope their album, The Time, Not The Weather, is full of the same kind of stuff.  Keep an eye out for it July 10, courtesy of Say Rah Records.

:Zookeeper - I Live In The Mess You Are:  Given that the main guy behind this project is Chris Simpson from Mineral and The Gloria Record, I can totally see why so many people are freaking out over it.  Still, even not knowing that this is one crafty piece of indie pop that deserves to be loved.  I recommend picking up his self titled EP.

:Special Pillow - I Love Your Smile:  Apparently, this quartet has been around for awhile but I have no idea what their previous efforts sound like.  I just know that their combination of strings, plodding guitar riffs and catchy vocals works nicely in this gem.  Their album, Sleeping Beauty, is available now.

:Poison Control Center - Glory Us:  This band is another from the quality roster of Abandoned Afternoon Records.  They've got a lot of energy and a neat mix of various pop elements in their sound, so expect to hear more about them once their Glory Us EP drops some time in September.

:The Moths - Valentine:  According to the email that I received, this UK band just won a fierce competition for best unsigned band.  I'm just guessing, but I would be willing to bet that they won on this song alone since it's probably three of the most infectiously fuzzed out minutes of 2007.  Anyone want to guess what label will inevitably scoop them up?
