The first label that I ever obsessed over and completely feel in love with was Saddle Creek Records.  In fact one of my favorite memories from when I was the MD at KSAU 90.1 was when an SC rep called to check in on some records and in a fit of excitement I spent the entire conversation professing my love for the label, needless to say she never bothered to call back.  I don't know what it is about the artists on their roster but anything I come across that has their logo on it I have full confidence that it will make for a great listen, which means I am more than thrilled to be bringing you a couple of tracks from Maria Taylor's new disc, Lynn Teeter Flowers.  Enjoy the music and make sure to go out and pickup Maria's sophomore effort when it hits store shelves on March 6.

:Maria Taylor - Good Start:  If you aren't too familiar with Maria's solo sound or her work from Azure Ray then her attention demanding voice along with the steady rhythm and well timed sonic explosions in this song are going to eat you up.  As for those that are familiar with her work, I think you will be ecstatic that she sounds more graceful than ever; Good Start is more than an appropriate title for this song.

:Maria Taylor - Lost Time:  Maria could make a zillion songs that sound exactly like Good Start and never lose me as a fan but I think when she switches gears to a quieter sound, like she does here in Lost Time, she is just as magnificent.  "And a heart in need/Finds hope in anything."  I think this lyric in itself pretty much details what you should expect from this somber number.

P.S. - The Saddle Creek love continues tomorrow with some new music from Bright Eyes!
