More often than not I am
normally won over by music that gets stuck in my head and never leaves, so I
get especially excited when it comes from something that I didn't expect it
too For example today's object of my affection, Buildings Breeding,
were originally intended to be apart of tomorrow's EP but since I have
caught myself humming their songs rather often over the last few days I
figured they were worthy of some more in-depth analysis. The
California quartet are about to release their self titled debut full length
on January 23 via Mushpot Records and I, along with what seems like most
other blogs, am pretty excited. I think that if you check out the
pop-flavored songs below you will see why the group's album has quickly
become one of the more anticipated of 2007.
:Buildings
Breeding - Stacking Up Reasons:
In case you were wondering this is the song that inspired me to
ramble about the band in a full post instead of just including them in the
EP. I absolutely love Chris Larsen's vocals and the acoustic driven
music completely bowls me over every time that I listen too it. Take a
moment to sprawl out on the floor with some fancy headphones when you listen
to this, I promise it will be worth the effort.
:Buildings Breeding - Stars Are Smitten:
Vintage dream-pop is an awesome way to show that you are capable of
presenting a different sound so I have to give it up to the group for
showing some versatility. On the other hand the song's dreamy sound is
pretty much the only difference between Stacking Up Reasons and
Stars Are Smitten because Chris Larsen always seems to sound
spectacular. Once again I recommend headphones for this one.
