I really find it amazing that I manage to stumble across at least one great semi-established band/artist that I have never heard of every single week.  This normally happens when I am gathering material for the Friday EP but it looks as if it's going to occur early this week by way of New York's My Teenage Stride, who are on the verge of releasing their third album, Ears Like Golden Bats, via Becalmed Records on February 23.  The two songs that I am sharing with all of you today are the only ones that I have heard from the album but they are so lush and catchy that it makes me want to fast-forward time so that I can check out the rest of their new disc.  Enjoy.

:My Teenage Stride - To Live And Die In The Airport Lounge:  I am not sure that I have ever really heard new wave-enhanced indie pop but that is exactly what this is and I totally love it.  There are so many bands out there (I'm looking at you She Wants Revenge) that take the new wave sound, or any other sound for that matter, and do absolutely nothing with it that hasn't already been done.  Jedediah Smith, the creative force behind MTS, doesn't bother with being unoriginal and instead takes a dash of everything in order to craft his perfect little pop gems.

:My Teenage Stride - Terror Bends:  Well one thing is for sure, Jedediah really knows how to write catchy songs.  I really like how this song isn't as new wavey as To Live And Die In The Airport Lounge, and is instead more pop oriented,  I think it goes to show how crafty Jedediah is as a musician.  This song more than deserves to be heard so give it a listen, especially if you are in the mood for a pick-me-up type of track because Monday is dragging.
