Wow, I totally had about one
zillion hits yesterday from people scrambling to get their hands on those
Arcade Fire songs, I think that band might make it. Today I
would like to bring to your attention to a little less known band that goes
by the name of Cuckoo Canoe. Over the last few days I have really been
enjoying their debut album, Basketball Freedom Overdrive, which
sounds like a really pop version of pre-First Impression Of Earth
Strokes. For only being together roughly 11 months I have to say that
the band has done a great job of quickly producing some hum-a-long worthy
songs that have me excited to see what the future has in store for them.
In other words stop listening to those Arcade Fire tracks on repeat and take
a moment to jump around your room.
:Cuckoo
Canoe - Greatest BF:
If you close your eyes and listen to this I promise that you will
swear it is the Strokes! Of course that is by far not a bad thing and
in my opinion this is something more of what I would have expected First
Impressions Of Earth to sound like. Regardless of my ranting about
how Greatest BF reminds me of the Strokes this is a great song in its
own right and it is definitely deserving of you attention, especially since
it will put a smile on your face as it causes you to tap your foot
uncontrollably.
:Cuckoo Canoe - Aderol:
I have always thought that every band has a song in their catalog that
is capable of catching anyone's ear, and while I enjoy Greatest BF
more I am certain that Aderol is that song for Cuckoo Canoe.
The vocals are spot on, the music is perfectly crafted and the song is so
undeniably catchy that it is sure to rule all who hear it. I hope you
are planning to have this stuck in your head for at least the next day or
two.
