Good News! I have ordered
the necessary items to turn my home in a suitable environment to
record a podcast, so if all goes well I am expecting to have it ready for
your listening pleasure within the next couple of weeks. I also just
bought a Dell Latitude D820, which, of course means I am now completely
broke so if you have some spare change buried in your couch I think if would
be OK if you sent it to me. Anywho, enjoy the first batch of artists
that people are already hyping in the new year.
Friday EP Vol. 16
:Amy Winehouse - Rehab:
Why has no one ever told me about this artist!? Within a minute of
hearing this song I was ready to completely forget the possibility of
hearing a better song in 2007 (despite the fact that her album dropped last
October), but given that I generally stray away from such impulsive
decisions I was able to calm myself. Still, this is an amazing track
so get ready to have your mind blown.
:The Electric Pop Group - Walk Away:
What's the deal with Sweden? It's seems like every time I turn around
there is another band being touted as the next Swedish sensation. The
crazy thing is that I am not even sure if there is a band from that country
that I don't like and if there is someone over there that has anything even
remotely close to the beauty that is The Electric Pop Group's Walk Away
then I might be willing to move there. I hope this song is an
indicator of the level of pop music that we will get in 2007.
:The View - Same Jeans:
This is a pretty enjoyable track from a band that a number of people are
calling the Scottish Arctic Monkeys. Personally, I can't say for sure
that I would go that far but I will say that they sound as if they have a
lot of potential locked away in their upbeat, three minute pop gems.
Here's hoping that I get to hear a lot more from these guys soon.
:Patrick Wolf - The Magic Position:
Once again I feel the need to ask why no one has ever told me about this
artist!? Apparently his new album, The Magic Position, is due
out later this year and it is one of the more hotly anticipated releases.
I find it amazing that the guy can play the harp, ukulele, theremin, organ,
violin and a computer, since he seems pretty adept at mixing various
electronic elements. What it must be like to be 23 and on the verge of
releasing your third disc.
:Malajube - Montreal - 40 Degre Celsius:
Man this song is a blast. My only problem with it is that it is
entirely in French and since that language resulted in my only D in college
I can't exactly say that I'm fluent in it. On the other hand the
language barrier isn't really an issue since I am convinced that this band
could sing in gibberish and make it enjoyable. If anything, just make
up your own words.
