I normally don't really slow it
down too much for you guys but today we are going to kick back and relax
with Rosie Thomas' new album, These Friends Of Mine. As many of
you have probably heard, the album was made over a two year period with
Sufjan Stevens and Denison Witmer contributing a great deal. The trio
set no deadlines or recording schedules so that Rosie could get back to the
early days when she worked in a "loose, easygoing" environment and "played
for nothing." It would appear that she got what she was looking for
because the new disc feels like it was made by people who sat down and made
music when they were at their most inspired, and not because they had too.
Give this a listen and be sure to be on the lookout for Rosie's latest
effort on March 13.
:Rosie Thomas - Why Waste More Time?:
I wanted to share this song because of the banter that happens at the
beginning of it. I think that it really goes to show how this album
was pretty much made by three friends who enjoy making music together.
Make sure to pay attention to the arrangement, it's very nicely done.
:Rosie Thomas - Much Farther To Go:
The word intimate is almost an understatement when describing this.
Still, I enjoy Rosie and Sufjan practically whispering little observations
about things in New York, and I like how the music quietly strums along in
the background. This is one of those songs that you pull out on a
rainy day so that you can stare out your window in deep thought.
