I have to say that throughout the post history of this blog there really hasn't been much abstract music.  Well, today I plan to blow that out of the water with Busdriver and his brand new disc, Roadkill Overcoat.  The Epitaph effort from BD, aka Regan Farquhar, was just released and I strongly believe that his absurdly experimental hip hop sound may end up being one of the most creative albums released in 2007.  This is my first time experiencing Regan but he apparently has been making music since the age of 15 and even though this is his debut for Epitaph he has had quite a few releases since the late 90s, so if there is anything worth checking out let me know.  If you enjoy the music I would highly recommend trying to catch him in either his opening spot for Deerhoof or RJD2, as I am positive that it would be an unforgettable experience.

:Busdriver - Kill Your Employer:  Remember Dizzee Rascal?  I think in a lot of ways this sounds like something he would do if you subtracted the grime and threw his rapid-fire delivery into a blender with a huge beat, experimental noises, and an amazingly catchy chorus.  Be sure to pay attention to all of the nifty lines that Regan throws at you, my favorite is "I burn flags not oil reserves."

:Busdriver - The Troglodyte Wins:  This isn't hip hop as much as it is reggae but it doesn't really matter since it is just as killer the song above.  It's weird how it gives me the urge to drive down to the beach and hang out with my friends throughout the night as tiki torches burn in the background and the ocean breeze whips around keeping everyone cool and relaxed, too bad I live a few hours away from the beach and totally have no friends who reside there.
