One of the reasons that I love blogging about music is that I absolutely crave the moments when an artist and their music just suddenly makes sense and causes me to enthusiastically tell everyone in earshot about it  This happened to me yesterday with Coach & Four.  I first heard their new EP, The Great Escape, last week when I was sent a link to download it, but to be honest it didn't initially do anything for me.  Then I had Winamp on random yesterday and the band's song Hello Destroyer came on and completely knocked me on my ass.  It's weird how sometimes an awkward mood or a busy schedule can make you completely miss out on amazing things.  Perhaps I need to revisit the download folder to see what other gems I have been ignoring.  Enjoy the music.

:Coach & Four - Hello Destroyer:  The first minute of this song totally slays me.  The instruments all roll in at different points to create a lush background for Brad Stanfill's voice, which is so powerful that it pretty much demands for you to sing-a-long or throw a fist in the air.  Yet,  Brad's voice is not the highlight of the track, as that honor belongs to the pounding drums and catchy guitar work that maintain the song's high level of tension in which it carries throughout its three minute runtime.

:Coach & Four - Girl Arms Redux:  If you loved Hello Destroyer and are looking for more of the same than this song is not for you.  This is a much softer and tension free electronic pop song that pretty much showcases what people mean by genre-hopping.  The good news is that the band makes this style of music work just as well for them and I think it just goes to show how talented they are.  I can't wait to see what they have in store for us in the future.
