Just so you all know, today and
tomorrow will feature the final regular post and podcast of the year.
Fear not though, it's not all quite over. All of next week will be
dedicated to what I enjoyed most in 2007. Then I'm going on break
until at least the new year. Also, on a completely unrelated note, I'm
seeing Walk Hard tonight. It should be fun. Anyhow, let's
end the week with a dash of spunky indie rock by the New York-based, all
lady trio known as Telenovela Star, who had an album titled Love, Lust,
Sci-Fi & Monsters that was self released a few months back. I, of
course, happened to miss out on it, but judging from the handful of songs
that I've heard it seems as if it's worth picking up before you get lost in
all things 2008. Enjoy.

Star - Antonio's Home:
When doing nothing but considering this song alone, I can't
figure out why the ladies don't have a label to call home.
Clearly, there is a nice amount of aptitude shown here for
clever songwriting that is as dipped in pop as it is indie
rock, so you would think that there would be a lot of people
out there ready to scoop them up. In any case, get
ready to have this gem's slightly bizarre murder-themed
lyrics lodged in your heard for the next few days.

Star - Vampire:
Even though
both of the songs being shared today are from the same
album, this one sounds a lot different. The lush
production values of the crisp number above have been
replaced with a simplistic homage to just about anything
that was done by the Sleater Kinney's and such of the mid
90s. It works well, but it will leave you wondering
where you've heard this one before. Luckily, I don't
consider having to reminisce about Sleater Kinney to be a
bad thing.
