So, I had a chance to see I
Am Legend last night but I didn't bother. Hell, I couldn't even
get myself semi-excited about the opportunity to catch it over a week early
and for free. Why does Will Smith sign up for this shit?
The money must be amazingly awesome. Anyhow, lets have some fun today
by way of some indie rockers called Sybris. The Chicago-based outfit
had a well received self titled album way back in 2005 that I knew
absolutely nothing about until yesterday when I saw it mentioned on
Pitchfork. Hopefully though, I will be able to give it a few listens
before their sophomore effort, Into The Trees, arrives on Flameshovel
Records at some point in 2008. I recommend you do the same if this is
your first time hearing about this quartet. Enjoy.

- Oh Man!:
I know I've mentioned Land Of Talk in a few other rambles,
but I'm honestly amazed at how similar this band sounds to
them. Angela Mullenhour shares the same type of great
range, soft or powerful on command style of vocals that
Elizabeth Powell has, and the band's overall sound is the
same ode to indie rock from the 90s. Sure, there are
some minor details that make it easy to differentiate
between the two, but in the end they definitely belong in
the same boat. Fortunately, that's far from a bad
thing. You need to hear this now.
I don't think
that you're going to be writing home about the quality of
whatever is going on in this video for Best Day In
History Ever, but I am confident that you will be
impressed with the song. Unless, of course, you don't
like mid 90s indie rock.
