I'm excited. Not only do
I have some great stuff to share with you today, but I was able to score a
three-day pass for Austin City Limits since the people running the affair
put some more up yesterday for $145. Festivals may not be even close
to my kind of thing, but I'm happy to be covering it for those of you that
would like to have an extra thought or two on the event. Anyhow, onto
the great music, which is actually from a band that was in the podcast
awhile back, Pseudosix. Their self titled sophomore effort is set to
hit store shelves next week, so I figured it was time do dust it off and
spread the good word. After all, the band has a dynamic variety of
sounds and some of the best songwriting of 2007. It would be wrong to
not fill you in on something this good. Enjoy.

- Apathy And Excess:
I can't get enough of this devious track. The music makes it seem as
if its a charming number because of its intricate mix of acoustic/electric
guitars, smooth bass lines and drumming that sounds as if it was taken from
a band routine. But, peer into the songwriting and you'll see there's
a lot of choice words being said. My favorite? "You know you're
only using progress to validate your careless approach to living life in
excess."

- Under The Waves:
In the amount of time that has passed since I put this song in the podcast I
have to say that I kind of forgot how amazingly good it is, which is
honestly a little surprising given how I absolutely love the melodic vocals
and the underlying cynicism that's in lyrics like: "Nobody ever escapes the
ugly undertow." I guess it's just one of those things that happens
when you're exposed to a ton of new music everyday. Yes, I realize
that's a totally lame excuse.
