I know I've been throwing out a
lot of movie recommendations lately but now I want to tell you one that you
need to avoid; it's called Rush Hour 3. I saw it at a sneak
peak last night and all I could think about was how I had heard all of the
jokes in the other two Rush Hour flicks. Stay away! On a
more positive note, today I have some fantastically interesting music from
Seattle's Siberian. The band was formed as a casual project in 2004,
but a four track demo that wasn't meant to be heard quickly propelled the
the group into high regard. That, of course, lead to an EP titled
Hey Celestial, which was released earlier this year, and an upcoming
debut LP titled With Me, which is due out on Sonic Boom Recordings in
late October. It's good stuff. Enjoy.

- Belgian Beer And Catholic Girls:
It took a few listens for it to dawn on me but this is pretty much shoegaze
at its finest. You just have to try really hard to not get constantly
caught up in the epic feel of the arrangement that sweeps and swirls behind
Finn Parnell's soft, pop-enthused delivery. Also, this is done with a
noticeable amount of energy, which immerses you if you have headphones on,
so I recommend them.

- Islands Forever:
If you aren't into shoegaze then you'll probably enjoy this song more, as it
features the band carrying more of an indie pop sound. Though, you
should know that isn't to say everything is entirely different. There
is still lush arrangement that moves with a lot of energy. The main
difference lies within Finn's vocals. His work this time around is
much more concise and done with a bit of pep, so the end result is a very
pop oriented effort. You have to love versatility like that.
