Those of you with good memory may recall the end of last year when I noted that the Noisettes were one of the bands that I was most looking forward to hearing new material from in 2007.  Well, their new full length, What's The Time Mr Wolf, finally dropped this week after two years in the making and what felt like a million delays.  Did it blow my mind like I hoped?  No, but it certainly didn't deserve a 5.7 from Pitchfork.  My only problem with it was that I was really expecting to see a whole batch of new songs, but all that I got in the end was five new and five old.  Still, what's there is easily some of the most entertaining music around and I have no doubt that the Noisettes will be a household name before too long.  Enjoy.

:The Noisettes - Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit):  I actually wasn't going to ramble about the new disc since I had pretty much shared it with you last year, but this song left me know choice.  Singer Shingai Shoniwa is at her best with an inspired howl that is all at once sexy and powerful, and the polished garage rock that the trio push out together is quite furious.  I love how passion and energy are what make up the Noisettes core, and I have to say that I'm not sure that any other song has been able to show it any better than this one.  It's probably a good thing that the band didn't give us an album full of songs like this; it would have just instantly melted our brains.

As I noted in the ramble above, Sister Rosetta (Capture The Spirit) alone made me want to bring the album to the attention of all you lovely readers, and because of that I decided to just share the one song and hit up Youtube for something visually pleasing.  What I ended up with was a neat quasi-acoustic version of Don't Give Up that I highly recommend you take a moment to watch.

On a side note, I began my trip down the Grindhouse era last night with Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and it was awesome.  I expect to spend the entire summer watching any and all of those types of films, so if you have any recommendations feel free to send them my way.
