Well my friends I am off to Houston tonight to catch TV On The Radio and The Noisettes at the Meridian.  Be sure to drop by tomorrow for a full show review to go along with the weekly podcast.  As for today, I have a ramble about an album that has been sitting on my desk for about a month.  I can't really explain why I have been putting off writing about the Dollyrots' Because I'm Awesome but I think that it's simply because I could never decide how I really felt about the disc.  That is of course until the other day when I gave the band's second full length another listen and felt like bounding around my apartment in a fit of sugary pop punk joy.  This is a good way to end the week if you like and remember all of the Blink 182s of the mid 90s.  Enjoy.

:The Dollyrots - Because I'm Awesome:  Even the most jaded of you are going to find yourselves listening to this one on repeat over the next few days.  Lead singer Kelley Ogden is adorable when she sings "I'm a leader/I'm a winner/And a dreamer/Because I'm awesome," and the other two members of the band do a great job of playing it up with a few well placed lyrical quips throughout the verses.  It's nice to see someone having a good time instead of wondering if they have the proper girl pants to go along with their emo haircuts.

As far as I can tell I was only allowed to post the one song above so I hit up Youtube for some extra content.  I came across an interesting video for a song titled Kick Me To The Curb that is from their debut album, Eat My Heart Out.  Don't be surprised if this one lodges itself in your head as well.
