At the beginning of the year Page France announced that they had finished working on their full length follow-up to Hello, Dear Wind and that it would be called Page France And The Family Telephone.  To accompany that bit of news a couple of songs were leaked and even though I loved them I decided to wait until the actual drop date of the album was reasonably close.  Well, Suicide Squeeze will be releasing the band's debut for the label on May 8 and I think that it is now the perfect time to ramble about it.  After all I did just see Michael Nau and Co. a few weeks ago at SXSW where they performed a whole slew of new material that was as charming as I hoped that it would be.  2007 just continues to get better and better.  Enjoy.

:Page France - Mr Violin And Dancing Bear:  This is the first song that I heard from the new album and the one that has been frequently showing up on other blogs since January.  I think its popularity stems from it's striking similarities to Hello, Dear Wind and how it has an undeniably great amount of warmth and charm radiating from it.  I particularly love when the music dies for a few seconds around the 2:50 mark before quickly coming back with some well placed brass that does well to inspire all who listen to sing-a-long.  Break out the headphones for this one.

:Page France - Here's A Telephone:  I think this track is the first one that I have heard from the new LP that shows me a little something different from the band.  Michael is swift with his delivery and the music is not as folk as you would expect with a xylophone leading the way until some slightly distorted guitars show up for tiny bit.  Now, it certainly isn't a drastically different approach, but I think that it is just enough so that the song has a bit more flavor.  Go ahead and keep the headphones out for this one as well, especially for when Whitney quietly comes in at the end to finish the song out.
