I think there are times when I love finding out about a band when the rest of the world is in the "jumping on the bandwagon" phase.  I generally love giving my opinion out in full force to turn someone onto something but there are times when I like to just nod my head in an agreeing manner as others pile praise on a particular artist.  This is how I feel about The Rewinds, who are a four piece from Alabama.  These guys are riding an impressive wave of press that includes kind words from Vice, Spin, Paste, Filter, and Magnet.  Obviously the band doesn't really need my help to spread the word but I felt like I should take a moment to throw in my two cents on what has quickly become one of my favorite little indie pop gems of the year.  Jumping on the bandwagon is usually easy but there aren't too many bands that make it this easy.

:The Rewinds - Ghostriders:  This is the song that seems to have everyone buzzing and it really isn't too difficult to see why.  The Rewind's have a nifty style of pop enthused modern rock and their songs, especially this one, are easy to get into quickly.  Ghostriders is pretty guitar driven and Michael Shackleford and Glenn Drennen do a great job of maintaining a high level of energy throughout the song, though, they are not alone as Brooks Marks (drums) and Chris Markham (bass) put in some crafty work as well.  Take a moment to check out this upbeat pop song and make sure to turn it up.

:The Rewinds - Killing Me:  While the band tends to lean towards songs that sound more like Ghostriders they do have a couple that have a really cool laid back southern vibe too them.  I live a few hours from the beach but when I hear this song I really want to grab my Mp3 player and then take a long walk along the shore with this on repeat as the sun sets.  Outside of it's awesome sound Killing Me has some nice lyrics that are filled with little quips about relationships such as "I'm on my knees and still you tune me out" and "You get over your anger, it's killing me." There is a lot offer here so slap on some headphones and get ready to hum this the rest of the day.

The Rewinds self titled debut comes highly recommended and it is available on Livewire Recordings now, the band is also currently out on the road winning over the world.  Being their friend on Myspace is like saving a puppy so click here to save what is considered by most to be the cutest thing in the world.
