I have mentioned a few times
that I help out over at Riot Act Media and in some ways I think it is kind
of lame of me to post up songs from the client base. On the other hand
that client base is really good and this is my site and unless one of
you wants to start paying me to write other things I guess it will stay that
way. Anyways, Titles is the band that I have chosen to gush over today
and they are currently celebrating the release of their brand new self
titled album. Oddly enough I think one of the members does stuff for Riot Act
as well...
:Titles - Pair Of Pink Shoes:
I really like to think about how this band is from Connecticut, just like
Hatebreed. It just sounds so completely wrong, especially when you
give it a listen. Speaking of the band's sound, it is a really nice
mix of different styles of indie pop and Pair Of Pink Shoes in
particular really shows those different styles. My favorite thing
about this song though is the vocals. I really love how catchy and
melancholic they are and when you check this out I promise that you will end
up walking around humming "It's hasn't been that bad, it hasn't been that
good."
:Titles - Dust:
For whatever reasons this song reminds me of the style of pop songs that
were big in the mid-90's. I am not sure why really, maybe it is the
music and how much it makes me think of those days when I would just lay
around and play N64 all day while listening to the radio. I love a lot
about this song but I really like all of the little details like the really
catchy chorus and the guitar part that comes in at the 3:28 mark. The
melancholic vocals are in full force here but I like how they are more
subtly done then the guilty pleasure sound they had in Pair Of Pink Shoes.
I once again promise that you will walk around with this band stuck in your
head, good luck getting them out.
Jump over to
Myspace (like it isn't already open in
another window/tab) and be their friend!
