A few weeks ago I took a moment to shine the spotlight on a little label out in Utah called Exumbrella Records. Since that was quite awhile ago it seemed like a good time to show some more love for the little people and today I would like to bring FRYK Beat Records to your attention.  The label only has two artists, Panther and Bobby Birdman, and it is run by a couple of guys named EJ and E*Rock.  I don't know who those guys are but they have an ear for great music.

:Panther - You Don't Want Yr Nails Done:  Panther isn't exactly original as there are a couple of artists (Treasure Mammal, Applied Communications) around who also love to bust out with falsetto vocals while all kinds of synth are freaking out in the background.  On the other hand though it sure does feel like he, Charlie Salas-Humar of the 5RC band The Planet The, might be the best at doing this particular genre.  Where a lot of artists who are doing this sort of thing do their best to overload their songs with chaotic electronic fuzz, Panther keeps it together and this song shows it with it's consistent dance heavy beat.  Get ready to move because Panther is about to become your new guilty pleasure.

:Bobby Birdman - I Will Come Again:  I hereby declare that Bobby Birdman will one day re-invent electronic noise pop.  The first thing that will come to mind when you hear this is how much it feels like a Postal Service song.  One of the things that I have found that most love about the Postal Service is Gibbard's voice and how great it fits the music, well Birdman's fits just as well if not better.  My favorite thing about this track is how it carries subtle shoe-gazer undertones while stacking layers or lush electronic pop and smooth vocals on top of it.   Oh yeah, it is also one of the catchiest things that I have heard in 2006.  I'm serious.  Birdman is amazing.  Check this out now.

As always, go be their friends on Myspace (Panther, Bobby Birdman).
