It has become apparent to me
that Sean over at Daytrotter is a man after my own heart and the way he is
going let's just say I'm glad my girlfriend isn't a jealous person.
Every week I always make sure to see what he has in store for me and while
every session is enjoyable the last two weeks have been stunning since they
were performances by two of my favorite artists, Page France and Langhorne
Slim. I love how Sean keeps the sessions fresh and this week he really
showcases what I mean by bringing in the almighty P.O.S., who is part of
that amazing Rhymesayers group. I have been gushing over P.O.S. for a
few months now since I checked him out after seeing that he would be opening
for Minus The Bear on their fall tour. I had decided awhile back that
I would wait to rave about him until after the MTB show that I will be
attending in a couple of weeks but after I saw that he had a Daytrotter
session I figured now was as good of time as any to share my enthusiasm.
Enjoy.
:POS - Living Slightly Larger (Daytrotter Session):
This is one of my favorite songs from P.O.S.' latest album, Audition,
and I was thrilled to see that this was one of four songs in the session.
Over the period of time that I have been listening to P.O.S. I have become
slightly more excited to see him then Minus The Bear and I think it is
because of the energy that I can hear in his voice. Outside of his
voice his lyrics are incredibly smart and oddly enough Sean pointed out my
favorite line in this song, "it don't take mills to eat meals." When
you aren't marveling at how smart this song is make sure to pay attention to
how much fun he sounds like he is having, at this point I am as excited as I
could possibly be to see him perform on October 30 in Houston.

- Safety In Speed (Featuring Craig Finn):
I was going to ramble on about another one of the Daytrotter songs but
I decided that I would share this gem that features Craig Finn from The Hold
Steady. For whatever reasons I never even imagined Craig's voice in a
song like this but after hearing this all I could think about was how I
managed to miss such an obvious match. I love how slick and smart this
song feels, especially when Craig calls out to his fans by saying "it was a
blood sucking summer." Of course all of my excitement about this song
could just be from the fact that I am obsessed with all things Craig Finn
but I like to think that it is because P.O.S. took the initiative to come up
with something amazing that just happened to include one of my favorite
vocalist around. This comes highly recommended in case you couldn't
already tell.
Once again I am going to strongly encourage you to experience the greatness
that is
Daytrotter and if you have some extra cash
then I advise you pick up both of P.O.S.' albums, Ipecac Neat and
Audition, which are available now on
Rhymesayers.
