I am not sure there is a band
right now
that is more of a guilty pleasure for me then Langhorne Slim and it has been
that way since I saw him and the War Eagles when they opened for Murder By
Death in Houston last June. All three of the guys were pouring with
charisma as they played their set and despite the fact that their sound was
pretty different from the Metal Hearts, who had played before them, they had
everyone's attention and they did a masterful job of getting all the kids pumped
up for Murder By Death. Since that show the band has signed to V2
Records, released an EP
titled The Engine, and now they have managed to score the spotlight
over at Daytrotter this week. Obviously they have been getting a lot
of attention but I am willing to bet that they will be garnering even more
very soon.
:Langhorne Slim - Restless:
In all honesty I have been trying to download this song for about two weeks
but for some reason their Myspace page would not let me, but I randomly
tried it today and it worked so I will now share it with you. The song
is from their digital EP that I mentioned up above and it is quite a spiffy
number. The best part about Restless is that it feels as if it
was recorded live. The band puts on a show that absolutely needs to be
seen to fully appreciate them and the way this song sounds is a big step
towards capturing the band's energy and putting it in their recordings.
I highly recommend this song but be warned that you will instantly fall in
love with the sweetness that is Langhorne Slim and the War Eagles.
:Langhorne
Slim - She's Gone (Daytrotter Session):
I love Daytrotter and if you have not taken the time to check them out
then I highly advise you to spend a day rummaging through the archives.
I mentioned in my ramblings about Restless how the band has a great
live show and this recording does a great job of showing that. The
moment this song starts it sucks you in and before you know it you are
dancing around singing your heart out along side Langhorne. This is
definitely a song that deserves to played as you are hanging out with your
friends in the backyard discussing why the Cowboys don't need Terrell Owens.
Go to
Daytrotter to hear the entire Langhorne
Slim session
and then when you are done there be sure to visit
Myspace for more songs and friendship.
