It appears that we have once again arrived at the end of the week and might I add what a week it has been.  Actually outside of seeing Borat my week was pretty uneventful but at least this weekend is packed with all kinds of good stuff.  For football fans there is the Michigan/Ohio State game, for movie goers Casino Royale hits theaters and for gamers the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii will be arriving on store shelves.  To make the weekend even better I have rounded up the stuff that was most buzzed about this week so as you and your friends hang out this weekend playing the Wii while talking about Bond being re-invented turn this up and revel in how ahead of the curve you are.

Friday EP Vol. 11

:The Teenagers - Homecoming:  This song kills me every single time that I hear it because of how insane it is.  Homecoming is done in a half talking, half singing format as two people tell two different sides of a story; one side believes she had an "English Romance" with her step cousin while he believes he did no more then screw his "American Cunt."  To further the greatness of this it is all thrown over a bed of new wave pop that makes this song more then just humorous.

:Robbers On High Street - The Fatalist:  I remember liking this band's debut full length but it wasn't really something that stuck with me.  Now they are back with a digital EP, The Fatalist And Friends, to remind people of just how good they are before their sophomore effort drops next year.  This song has a very sleek sound that is sing-a-long worthy and when you throw that in with how smart it feels you have something that gets people, including myself, excited to see what the band has in store for the world in 2007.

:El Perro Del Marr - Here Comes That Feeling:  I am not too good with foreign languages but if El Perro Del Marr meant "Similar to Rily Kiley" then I would totally be OK with that.  Of course I think Jenny Lewis was made for me so anything that reminds me of her gets my seal of approval and Sarah, who is the creative force behind EPDM, has a similar easily accessible style of singing.  This is good stuff, especially if you love indie pop that oozes warmth and Rilo Kiley.

:Tahiti 80 - Happy Together (Turtles Cover):  Outside of the Swedes the French also seem to know how to make, or at least cover as is the case with this. a good pop song.  As far as I can tell the band is more known for making upbeat indie pop but their version of Happy Together doesn't stray too far from the accessibility and melodic ways of the original.  This is a good cover of a good song so check it out.

:Daylight's For The Birds - To No One:  There are a lot of great songs in the EP this week but if I had to pick one that might stick with you for a very long period of time it would be this one.  I love how dreamy and atmospheric the music is, I think it really goes well with the shoe-gazer-esque vocals used in the song.  Trouble Everywhere is the name of their debut album and don't be surprised to see a more in-depth review of it here at some point in the future.
