For those of you that drop by
frequently I am sure that by now you have noticed that I post up a lot of
pop music and after sharing Pony Up with all of you yesterday I felt the
need to make a more concerted effort to provide stuff that isn't so
bubblegum. That is why today we are getting back to the basics with a
straight forward indie pop rock act that goes by the name of Tuesday's
Debut. William Ferguson, Chris Brennan, James Yarbrough, Austin
Aguiree and Kevin Lambert make up the Lake Charles, Louisiana band that
formed in 2002 after William and Austin recruited a few friends to join them
in something that had quickly become more than just a hobby. During
the three short years after that the band decided on the name Tuesday's
Debut and honed their sound wherever they could before releasing their debut
full length, One Hour In The Air, last year. Now the band is
prepped to make a splash with their brand new EP, Raise Your Glasses; We
Are Armed And Jealous, and I am more than happy to share it with you so
get ready to jump on the TD bandwagon because the EP is a major step-up from
One Hour In The Air.
:Tuesday's
Debut - Art School Special:
I really like the simplicity of this song. There is so much
indie pop out there these days and it always amazes me how many people seem
to be focused on creating some bat-shit crazy eclectic train wreck instead
of trying to actually write a good pop song, which, if I remember
correctly is something that is at least remotely catchy.
Fortunately Tuesday's Debut seems to have a knack for writing finely
crafted indie pop rock and Art School Special does a great job of
showcasing it.
:Tuesday's Debut - Cities, Scenes, Dreams:
This is an interesting song and it's not because it is sonically different
then anything that is on the EP but because of how effortlessly the guys
pulls it off. I say that because most bands that make songs like this
generally have them stick out like a sore thumb, especially if they have a
catalog like Tuesday's Debut that is full of more straight edge pop rock
songs. It is fitting that at one point the line "You gotta try" is
repeated; venturing out is good and Cities, Scenes, Dreams is proof
why.
Raise Your Glasses; We Are Armed And Jealous is available now for
only $8 on the band's
website and if you don't have any spare
cash then at least stick it on your Christmas List. Regardless of
whether or not you pick up the EP make sure to pay the band a visit on
Myspace!
