I don't know about you guys but this week has flown by at an unbelievable speed for me.  In fact I keep thinking that it's Thursday and that I am not suppose to be writing this today.  Weird.  In any case the EP this week is once again full of bands that have been getting people all worked up over the course of the week.  There is a lot of good stuff below, enjoy.

Friday EP Vol. 9

:Benjy Ferree - In The Countryside:  If I labeled this a White Stripes song I am not sure that too many of you would ever know that it wasn't Jack and Meg.  It is not exactly like them, the style of music is a bit different, but I think the vocals are pretty close.  Regardless of that comparison this is a really great alt-country song that is as catchy as catchy can get.  Once again Domino Records delivers the goods, this time from a former bartender.

:Kristoffer Ragnstam - Beauty:  Whoa.  That was the only word that I could think of after the first time that I heard this song.  The first 2:18 of this is quite energetic and as it progresses it just keeps building until you start to wonder how it will end. It's at that moment when the song completely shifts gears into something that is reminiscent of the Magic Numbers and then proceeds to blow your mind.  Stuff like this makes think that moving to Sweden is something that I should seriously consider.

:White Whale - The Admiral:  As usual there is one band every week that is stuff full of members from other bands.  White Whale is that band this week since they are made up of people formerly of The Get Up Kids, Butterglory, and The Higher Burning Fire.  I like how this song tricks you at the beginning by making you think that you are about to listen too something eclectic and and just as soon as you assume that it jumps into the deep end of the indie pop pool.  This is a good song and quite frankly it should be with so much talent in the band.

:The Slip - Even Rats:  This is some nice straight up indie rock from this Boston trio.  There is not too much here that any fan of the genre hasn't heard before but it is all very nicely done.  The crafty guitar work (maybe that's why the song was in Guitar Hero) and the catchy song writing makes for a good listen so give it a shot, sometimes simplicity is the way to go.

:Clinic - Harvest:  It would seem as if Domino Records is trying to completely take over my weekly EP.  Clinic is another artist from their fantastic roster that has been getting some buzz lately and it isn't too hard to see why when you give this moody track a listen.  My favorite thing about this song is how precise everything feels; the vocals are spot on, the drum beat is consistent, the slightly creepy sounds flow in and out at the perfect time, and the guitar is perfectly used.  This is good stuff.
