Sorry for the extremely late post today, I am up to my neck in scattered Side One: Track One site redesigns.  I am hoping to launch the new site the day after Christmas along with my end of the year blowout list but with every passing day I wonder if I am going to meet that deadline.  Of course that could just be the cynic in me, there is a good chance I will have this thing ready to go by next week.  In any case I am going to keep my ravings about Pink Nasty pretty short.  Pink is actually Sara Beck, a 24-year old singer-songwriter from Wichita, Kansas who packs a sort of folk-twanged indie rock sound that is pretty great.  In fact she is so good every time I listen to her I regret not seeing her with Wolfmother, Jose Gonzalez and Annie at SXSW earlier this year; in my defense I didn't know who she was then and with a name like Pink Nasty I certainly wasn't expecting an amazing songstress.

:Pink Nasty - BTK Blues:  "We could go to Starbucks and talk a lot of shit about people we don't know."  By now you have probably figured out that I am a sucker for witty lines and since Sara packed BTK Blues with a ton of them I guessing that she is a woman after my own heart.  Still, witty lines aren't everything  and even if she had written the most retarded material ever her melodic vocals are energetic and captivating enough to void all else that is going on.  This song is probably not something that you have not heard before but every part of it feels like jumping into a pool of water on a hot day, refreshing.

:Pink Nasty - Don't Ever Change:  Sara is not only talented but highly regarded as Bonnie Prince Billy joins her on this twangy pop duet that has instantly become one of my favorite pop songs this year.  The weird thing about this song is that whenever I listen too it I immediately think that this is what I was expecting from the Jenny Lewis solo album; perfectly constructed twangy pop songs that make you sing-a-long with a massive smile stretching from ear to ear.  There isn't much more that I can add to convince you to check this out, you just need too.

Visit Pink Nasty on Myspace and/or pick up her new album, Mold The Gold, here.
