Way back when I was the Music Director for KSAU I received an EP in the mail that I automatically fell in love with. That EP was called "Three Moods of the Noisettes." In all honestly that was what amounts to a forever ago, so where have these guys been? Apparently they have been working on a full length since their EP came out and it is suppose to be arriving sometime this fall. I really hope that it does because the songs that have slipped out since the release of the EP have been pretty great and I am eager to hear them in the full context of the album. Shingai Shoniwa is an amazing singer and Dan Smith along with Jamie Morrison help to bring a sound to the band that encompasses punk, blues, and garage rock. There are not too many bands who can take such a myriad of styles and make it work so in my opinion the Noisettes are a trio of pretty talented kids. I put up a couple of the tracks that have been released over the last number of months and I included the song that started my Noisettes obsession.

:The Noisettes - Don't Give Up:  This is the song from the EP that started it all for me. Whenever I listen to this I always wonder why it was not an instant hit with the masses. Shoniwa's vocals fit perfectly with all of the garage rock sounds that Smith and Morrison make throughout the song. I think this is a perfect radio single and I really do not get how it was not a hit, especially with the White Stripes/Vines/Jet crowd. Enjoy this and make sure to pay attention at the 1:42 mark when Dan takes a moment to shred.

:The Noisettes - IWE:  This is one of the weird singles that the band has had over the last few months. It showed up sometime in May and then disappeared and was replaced with another song that has now disappeared and been replaced with this one. I said the whole thing has been a bit weird. Anyways, this is another song that shows how the Noisettes always manage to display great range in every single one of their songs. Instead of garage rock the band takes a more punk route with this tune and it works just as good or better then "Don't Give Up" does. I really love how the song has this big confident sound to go along with Shoniwa who always sounds like she could take on the world...did I mention this song was punk?

:The Noisettes - Wind Blow Hot:  I recently found this song over at the band's Myspace just hanging out and being lonely. In all honestly this song is a bit strange but I can't stop listening too it. I'm not sure if it is the weird vocal combination of Shingai and Dan or the different parts scattered throughout the song that remind me of Sleater Kinney. Either way this is just another great Noisettes song that has got me anxiously awaiting that damn album.
