Holy Crap! Two Electric Six albums in one year!? For those of you that know me well enough you know that I am all about E6 and one the best lead singers out there, Dick Valentine. There are not too many bands that can make you dance and laugh at the same time but these guys always pull it off. Pitchfork was not a fan of their last album, "Senor Smoke," but I thought it was a step up from "Fire." I think the new album "Switzerland," which drops September 12 on Metropolis Records, will continue to show the band knows how to make records that are fun. I have a song from their new album but for those of you who are not acquainted with E6 I also put up a song from each of their first two albums, enjoy.

:Electric Six - Gay Bar:  This is a track from their debut album "Fire" which came out in 2003. This is just one of those songs that might be one of the most fun to rock out too at a live show. There is nothing like an entire crowd of people yelling "I got something to put in you at the Gay Bar!, Gay Bar!, Gay Bar!" Sure, this song could not be more tongue-in-cheek but go ahead and try to offer me up some proof of a guy named Dick somehow managing to make a room full of people in Texas sing openly about homosexual activity.

:Electric Six - Dance Epidemic:  This song is from their second LP, "Senor Smoke," that came out earlier this year. I mentioned earlier that Pitchfork was not a fan of the album but oddly enough they did praise this song. There are not many words that can describe this song and it is not because it is some brilliant complex piece of work, it's because the title is self explanatory. With lines like "You're body goes to waste every minute you don't give it too me," what more could you ask for?

:Electric Six - Infected Girls:  While Electric Six has always used quite a bit of synthesizers in their music they have never really used them in an overly 80's Pop way until now. I have to say that I really like how it feels as if the band has taken a step in a slightly new direction. The lyrics are still funny as ever but the music has calmed down a bit and developed into something a little more Pop then Rock, which could be a good thing if this song is any indication of what to expect on the rest of "Switzerland." My favorite part of the whole song is easily the wonderfully wrong chorus that contains the line, "Calling all protected girls, infected girls do it better."
