If the scrappy, insistent base-line of, well, every Synthetic I.D. song doesn’t get your heart pumping, I’m worried about your blood oxygen level. And I’m especially worried about what you’re listening to these days. These songs, literally every single song I’ve listened to from this scruffy little band, just grabs you by the arm and drags you in to the teeming circle of sweaty bodies. At times, Synthetic I.D. seems to marry their ragged 80s punk rock with an almost kraut-rock sensibility, turning their hard edged fist-pumping in to some sort of elbows-out dance with a urine-stained robot made of trash cans. Regardless of the trappings of the song though, it’s that methed out heartbeat of a bass-line pounding along that creates the lip-pursed, aggressive head shake that makes these songs pop out of the speakers and directly in to your central nervous system.
