The Go! Team

Just the other week I spent some time listening to The Go! Team, and that left me wondering if they were done or whatnot.  Nope!  They’re still at it.  In fact, the act just announced a new album, Semicircle, and today I’m sharing its title track.  Naturally, it’s a joyous affair.  Here’s hoping they come to Austin soon.  Enjoy.

Quickdraw: Icky Blossoms, Turbo Fruits, The Go! Team, Fred Thomas, Night Drive

Music!  Enjoy.

:Icky Blossoms – In Folds:  I didn’t really connect with Icky Blossoms’ 2012 debut, but I’m all about this new single of theirs.  It’s a fantastic dance pop tune that pretty much dominated my weekend.  Mask is due out May 12 via Saddle Creek.

:Turbo Fruits – Don’t Let Me Break Your Heart Again:  I was hoping Turbo Fruits would let loose another single before SXSW.  This track is less moody and a lot catchier than the one that came before it.  No Control is due out April 20 via Melvin Records/Thirty Tigers.

:The Go! Team – What D’You Say:  Is it just me or is the upcoming Go! Team album kind of flying under the radar?  I think the first three songs released off of it (that includes this one) have all been really good, but I’ve yet to come across anyone who has it pegged as a priority.  Maybe folks will perk up once The Scene Between is actually out on March 24 via Memphis Industries.

:Fred Thomas – Cops Don’t Care Pt. II:  Here’s the latest rambler from Fred Thomas (of Saturday Looks Good To Me).  He kind of sounds as though he’s just spewing out stuff he scribbled in a journal, but I can’t help but find it all really endearing.  All Are Saved is due out April 7 via Polyvinyl.

:Night Drive – Easy To Lie (Original Mix):  This is a rather inspired slice of synth-filled goodness from Austin’s own Night Drive.  A full length from the duo is coming at some point this year, and I’m expecting it to be really good.  The Easy To Lie single is out now on Sound Control Records.

Quickdraw: Speedy Ortiz, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Wire, Joanna Gruesome, The Go! Team

Music!  Enjoy.

:Speedy Ortiz – Raising The Skate:  “I’m not bossy/I’m the boss.”  I’m forever in love with Speedy Ortiz, and it’s not just because of their on-point 90s-rock sound, it’s also the songwriting.  Sadie Dupuis is brilliant.  Foil Deer is due out April 21 via Carpark Records.  See the band at Red 7 on May 15.

:Unknown Mortal Orchestra – Multi-Love:  I’ve yet to decide exactly where I stand when it comes to Unknown Mortal Orchestra.  I like a few songs a lot (like this one), but have yet to love any of their albums.  They are great live, though.  Guess I’ll see how I react when Multi-Love gets released on May 26 via Jagjaguwar.

:Wire – Joust And Jostle:  Wire just keep rolling on.  The veteran act have readied their 13th full length, and this is the first single off of it.  I think it’s a melodic gem.  The band will release a self titled album on April 21 via Pinkflag.

:Joanna Gruesome – Last Year:  I know that Joanna Gruesome comes loaded with various novelties (a silly name, a schizo sound that’s both wildly fierce and sugary sweet), but I love them anyways.  It’s fun to listen to people who are having fun, you know?  Peanut Butter is due out June 2 via Slumberland.

:The Go! Team – Blowtorch:  The title track off of The Go! Team’s upcoming LP has been out for a while now, but apparently this jangly pop tune is actually the lead single.  What?  Anyhow, I dig it and remain excited about their new album.  The Scene Between is due out March 24 via Memphis Industries.

The Go! Team

Well look at that, The Go! Team are back.  According to the press release I have, the band essentially scattered after 2011′s Rolling Blackouts, so main brain Ian Parton decided to write, produce and record an entire album by himself (like he did during the early days of The Go! Team).  I like his style.  Below you’ll find the act’s new single.  It’s classic Go! Team – upbeat, catchy and full of interesting sounds.  Enjoy.

:The Go! Team – The Scene Between:

The Scene Between is due out March 24 via Memphis Industries.
