For the sake of not having to write the same intro a million different ways throughout the rest of time, just know that this column avoids the overly long and sometimes dull process of full film reviews and instead opts to break things down based on what I thought going in, what happened while I was there and what I learned at the end of it all.  Hope that's OK.

Read on!

The Breakdown - Inception

The Impression:

Christopher Nolan follows up the massive commercial and critical success of The Dark Knight with a "pet project" he's been working on for almost a decade.  Also, said movie apparently deals with stealing secrets from people while they dream.

The Reality:

I don't like to post spoilers in these things, so you won't find any here.  Although, I will say that on the way home I tried to actually think of one, and I couldn't.  Not because the film is complicated to the point where a piece of information wouldn't matter out of context (it's actually a brilliantly simple story), but because there are no real twists to spoil.  This film is Nolan gently taking you by the hand, leading you down his rabbit hole (one that happens to be packed with the absolute coolest imagery of 2010) and then letting you decide for yourself what to think of it all.  Have fun.

Honestly, this is what you've been waiting for all summer.  Go see it a few times.  Or don't bother going to the theater ever again.

The Lesson:

Christopher Nolan currently can't be beat.  Unless there's an evil twin out there somewhere that's plotting to take him down.  But even then the good Nolan would probably film it and turn it into a must-see movie.
