Sleep Good (Jennifer)

I first heard of Austin’s own Sleep Good a few years ago via a feel-good, jangly guitar pop single titled Summer Explosion. The act has returned this year with a new album, Dream Dealer, that reveals a sound which has shifted more towards an ambient, electronic direction. The songs create a delicate and dreamlike atmosphere. Waves of chilly piano are intertwined with waves of synthesizers, pedal steel guitar, and the occasional spoken or sampled soundbite. The album is an appropriate soundtrack for this time of year because it sheds a little bit of sonic sunlight on these dreary, grey, and chilly winter days.

You can download the LP on Bandcamp or place a pre-order with Blackland Hall Records; there’s also an additional option of a limited edition handprinted CD (only  100 copies made) that includes unlimited streaming of Dream Dealer via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. Close your eyes and let yourself float away to these airy, colorful songs.
